This painting demonstrates Fischer’s emulation of the work of his former teacher, Howard Pyle. The ship is a quotation of a painting that Pyle himself produced a number of times. This rendering, Fischer’s version, was translated into print and published on the cover of the March 30, 1935 issue of The Saturday Evening Post.
