James Gurney’s New York Times bestselling book Dinotopia: A Land Apart from Time (1992), inspired this painting, which was included in a subsequent book titled Dinotopia: The World Beneath (1995). A prequel, Dinotopia: First Flight, was released in 1999, followed by Dinotopia: Journey to Chandara in 2007.
